Policy Letter No.RB/CE/19/2003
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS
New Delhi, Dt:30-12-2003.
The General Managers,
All Zonal Railways.
Sub: Boards letter of even number dated 08-10-2003 (Policy Letter No.RB/CE/11/2003).
The issue of allowing PWIs to concentrate on their heavy duties of track maintenance work which includes inspection and ensuring compliance was again brought out in Safety Samvads being organized at various stations as well as by Union Representatives in PREM meeting. The field staff have also represented in Safety Samvads that due to large number of visits/inspections of senior officers, their most of the time is spent in accompanying on these inspections.
2. The Board has further considered this matter and desires that PWIs should not be normally disturbed and should be asked to accompany only if the inspections specifically relate to the track items. In case of other visits of higher officials/general inspections, these P. Way staff should be left un-disturbed to concentrate on track maintenance activities.
