Trainload classification  - TG rakes


In terms of policy guidelines contained in Board’s letter No.TCR/1017/91/2 dated 17.08.1998 (Rates instructions No.49 of 1998), the standard rake size and minimum number of different types of wagons required for availing trainload rate benefit, were prescribed.  As per these instructions, the standard rake size and minimum number of wagons required to be loaded for availing trainload rate benefit for Tank Wagon (4-wheeler) was 70 wagons and 65 wagons. 

2.0         In view of the fact that TG type tank wagons are longer in comparison to TP/TK type tank wagons, Central Government has decided to reduce the standard rake size of TG type tank wagons (4-wheeler) from 70 to 64 wagons and minimum number of wagons required to be loaded for availing train load benefit from 65 to 62 wagons.  Accordingly, the following may be inserted in Annexure-I attached with Board’s letter No.TCR/1017/91/2 dated 17.08.1998:

 3.0           The instructions will come into force w.e.f. 15.10.2004. 

4.0           This issues in consultation of Traffic Transportation Dte and with the concurrence of Finance Dte. in the Ministry of Railways.
