Sub:   Tareweighment of empty wagons supplied to steel plants for loading  of  Iron and Steel consignments,  Silica Manganese and Ferro  Manganese consignments.

In terms of Board’s letter quoted above, permission was given to steel plants to weigh the tare of the  empty wagons supplied to them for loading of Iron and Steel consignments and Silica Manganese/ Ferro Manganese consignments upto 26.8.2004.  It has now been decided to extend the validity of the permission for a further period of one year beyond 26.8.2004, subject to the fulfilment of all the terms and conditions stipulated in the Board’s letter of even number dated 28.10.2003. 

2.         Concerned Zonal Railways should submit half yearly appreciation reports on the working of the scheme indicating the total number of wagons tare weighed giving wagon-wise details of wagons number, type of wagon, printed tare weight, actual tare weight, the difference, if any etc. The reports for the period August 2004 to January 2005 may be sent to this office by March 2005. 

3.         The proposal for continuance of tare weighment beyond, 26.8.2005 would need to be furnished by 30.6.2005 duly vetted by Associate Finance of your Railway. 

4.         This issues in consultation with Traffic Transportation, Mechanical directorates and with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate in the Ministry of Railways. 

5.         Issue necessary instructions to all concerned and acknowledge receipt of this letter.
