Rate reducing powers of General Managers in respect of freight traffic
-Quotation of station to station rates on meter gauge.

Reference is invited to your Railway’s
letter no.C.493/23-Shree Cement dated 14.10.03 requesting for enhancing
the delegation of powers to the General Manager, North Western Railway
to sanction upto 15% concession under station-to-station rate policy for
MG streams for cement traffic as had been done for Western Railway in (i)
above.
As part of the metre guage
network of Western Railway with some cement plants has come under the
jurisdiction of the North Western Railway after reorganization of
zones, it has been decided to empower the General Manager, North
Western Railway, as a special case, to offer concessions upto 15% for
MG streams for cement traffic under station-to-station rates scheme
subject to the condition that the reduced rate realized covers at least
the incremental cost plus 10% for the concerned originating destination
stream. Other relevant conditions as per extant rules continue to apply
unchanged.
This issues with the
concurrence of the Finance Directorate in the Ministry of
Railways.
Please issue necessary instructions to all
concerned and acknowledge receipt.
