Sub: Adjustments in Freight Rates –
Railway Budget 2004-05.
1.0
Sanction of the Central Government is hereby accorded to the following
adjustments in freight rates:
1.1
Ten percent (10%) rebate will be granted in freight charges for the
transportation of heavy machinery consignments by special trains in
special type of wagons owned by the customers, which cannot be hauled by
ordinary goods trains.
1.2
In partial modification of the Provisions relating to the booking of heavy
machinery consignments as contained in Rule No.199A of the Goods Tariff
No.41 Part I Vol.1, the following conditions will also apply:
(i)
Passenger coach, if any, provided for accommodating the technical
staff of the customer will be carried free of charge.
(ii)
Railway staff including RPF personnel required for escorting the
special train at the request of the customer will be allowed free of
charge.
2.0 This instruction will come
into force with immediate effect.
3.0
This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate in the
Ministry of Railways.
4.0
Issue necessary instructions to all concerned and acknowledge receipt of
this letter.
