               Sub:  Payment of freight through Credit Note-cum-Cheque by consignors : furnishing of Security Deposit.


           Board had vide letter of even No. dated 15.4.2002 extended the facility of payment of freight by Credit Note-cum-Cheque (CNCC)  by furnishing security bond to select public sector undertakings (PSUs).  The instructions were valid till 16.4.04. 

           The matter has been examined and it has been decided to extend the scheme further for a period of one year i.e. from 17.4.2004 to 16.4.2005.  All other terms and conditions stipulated in the original scheme continue to apply uchanged. 

           Zonal Railways extending this facility to PSUs may satisfy themselves that no dishonouring of cheques takes place and that the scheme is automatically withdrawn when more than two incidents of dishonouring of cheques are noticed. 

Feedback regarding the working of the scheme may be endorsed to Board by 31.12.2004. 

This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate in the Ministry of Railways.
